I was born and grew up in the Ruhr region. The physical labour and the honest character of the people have left their mark on me and are deeply engraved in my heart. I got my openness and sometimes disarming honesty and directness from here.
The search for freedom and my interest in people has always been my motivation and has led me to photography. Spontaneity, powers of observation and a keen eye for people's facial expressions and feelings are the qualities that characterise my style. I travel internationally for my projects.
I live in the Netherlands with my wife.
